Instituto Tecnolóxico para o Control do Medio Mariño de Galicia – INTECMAR

INTECMAR has extensive experience in studying the environment and coastal resources, as well as in combating marine pollution. INTECMAR serves as the official agency of the autonomous administration of Galicia, responsible for monitoring the quality of the marine environment and implementing legal regulations related to the technical-health inspection of sea products.

INTECMAR’S chemical contamination department has vast experience in monitoring priority organic contaminants (polychlorinated biphenyls, polychlorinated dibenzo dioxins and furans, organochlorinated pesticides, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons). Likewise, it is also involved in developing and implementing new techniques for analysing these compounds in samples of marine origin.

Over the last decade their efforts have also focused on studying contaminants of emerging concern, mainly additives in plastic materials.
